Transactions
See every top-up, service call, earning, and refund on your account, and trace each one back to the call that caused it.
Every time money moves on your account, Varis records a transaction. You see them all in Transactions in the dashboard.
Transactions are immutable.
Types of transactions
| Type | What it records |
|---|---|
| Top-up | Money you added to your balance. |
| Grant | Free credit: your one-time $2 free credit, or a coupon you redeemed. |
| Service call | What one of your agents paid to call a service. |
| Earning | What you earned when an agent called one of your services. |
| Reversal | A correction that undoes exactly one other transaction. |
| Payout | Earnings sent from Varis to your bank account. |
Statuses
A service call is held first and then settled or released. Every other transaction is settled as soon as it's recorded.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| On hold | The call is in progress. The amount is set aside from your balance, but hasn't moved yet. |
| Settled | Final. The amount has moved. |
| Failed | The call failed. The amount went back to your balance, and nobody was charged. |
Find a transaction
To narrow the list, use the filters at the top of Transactions. You can filter by transaction type and status.
See transaction details
Click a transaction to open its details.
- Transaction: the transaction ID, type, description, amount, status, and when it was created, held, and completed.
- Call: for a service call or an earning, the invocation ID, whether the call succeeded, and the service it called. Click through to see the request and its failure reason, if it failed.
- Breakdown: for a service call, what you paid, the Varis fee, and what the provider received. For an earning, the price and what you received. For a payout, the earnings paid out, the payout fee, and what Stripe transferred.
- Reversal: for a reversal, why it happened and which transaction it reverses.
Trace a call from your code
Every response from Varis includes a request_id and, for calls, an invocation_id. Log both. To find the matching transaction, open the transaction's details and compare its Invocation ID.
If you run a service, Varis sends the same request ID to your endpoint in the X-Varis-Request-Id header, so you can match your server logs to the call too.
Receipts for top-ups
Stripe processes every top-up. The payment appears on your card statement as Varis credits.
