Quickstart: publish a service

Put your API on Varis in under three minutes, from the dashboard or the CLI.

In this quickstart, you publish an API you already run as a paid service on Varis. When you finish, agents can find it and pay to call it.

Before you begin

Publish your service

Choose how you want to publish. The dashboard needs no code. The CLI reads your service from your code.

  1. In the dashboard, go to Services.
  2. Click Add service.
  3. Fill in Name, Description, Type, and Endpoint URL, and choose at least one category.
  4. In Price per request (in cents), enter the price of your service in US cents. You receive the whole price on every successful call. Enter 0 for a free service.
  5. Under Input schema and Output schema, click Add field for each field your endpoint takes and returns.
  6. Click Publish service.

Your service is live. Agents can find it and call it, and you earn the full 10 cents on every successful call.

Publishing your first service also adds a $2 free credit to your balance, so you can call your service yourself and see it work end to end.

Verify requests from Varis

Before you take real traffic, make sure your endpoint answers requests from Varis. Add one check at the top of your handler:

if (!(await varis.verifyRequest(request))) {
  return new Response("Unauthorized", { status: 401 });
}

verifyRequest accepts a Web Request or a Node.js req, so it works in Next.js, Express, Hono, and most other frameworks.

If you published from the dashboard, install @usevaris/sdk and create const varis = new Varis() first. You can verify requests from Varis using the SDK.
